How about a thread on the metro ideas. I have been told by some of our leaders in this county that we have an opportunity to make significant changes in the way we govern ourselves. I have heard a few excellent ideas on how to stream line some of our services for the county. We already have two great examples of county wide service providers in the Harrison County EMS and the Sheriff department. I know there is a plan to develop a metro police unit. There are other plans that deal with the consolidation of our PSD water and sewage departments across the county. I think some of these things can be done with some real leaders in the right places. Will it save us money, will we get better service?
Let’s start an idea page on how these things can work, or what is already working. This can be a positive start to change on a county level. Metropolitan government will make a difference for all of the residence and employees of the county they serve.
Please start a section on election issues. With this being an important election year, both state and federal, it may be of benefit to have a separate section for those primarily interested in posting comments, so they don’t have to scan down through another section or post their comments in an unrelated section where it doesn’t really make sense … just a thought.

I would like to see this too. However, I would rather not see mud slinging about the local candidates. Whether you are supporting a particular candidate or not, these people live in our community and work for us, and I feel they should not be the target of unfair, unwarranted, negativism, just because you like the other candidate.
Good, positive, debate might be productive. I am sure there are good points to consider about all our candidates, so who’s basket of good points can fill up the fastest.
I too wish that we could have done this but people always seem to get negative. I wish that were not the case.
However, we have a very important election upon us, we all need to get out and vote and encourage others to do so as well.
As Betty Ireland has been saying on the radio “Voting is powerful”
it would be nice to have a poll on here for some of the close races too

Vote for Hillary. Don’t be fooled by what the media is spewing. She IS the better candidate and the one who can beat McCain, and be ready on Day One!
